Nest Power Connector: Installing a Nest Thermostat without a Common Wire

Tips and technical advice from Kevin Jozefowicz,
Strateres Training and Product Specialist

The Nest thermostat has been a real game-changer in our industry, but what about those folks without a common wire? Good news! Simply installing the Nest Power Connector solves the problem.  Note that the connector is NOT included, but readily available.

The Nest Power Connector is installed between the Nest Thermostat and furnace or AC unit.    It’s compatible with 24 VAC systems with no millivolt or high-voltage support, which covers the majority of installed systems.

The setup process is a relatively simple affair, just turn off the circuit breaker for the unit and follow the diagram below.  Need more information? Check the Nest Power Connector help page HERE.
